Ghana must make continuous investment in education – UK envoy

British High Commissioner to Ghana Iain Walker has said Ghana needs to continuously invest in education.

Speaking on the Morning Starr with Francis Abban on Thursday, October 19, 2017, Mr. Walker said aside from the other areas of the economy that Ghana is improving and investing in,  Education must be the priority.

“Ghana will have to continuously invest in Education, Education remains the key thing. The quality of Ghanaian education is pretty good. Free SHS is a good thing, we support the policy. More work in the area of education is key and Ghana should make sure the quality of education is improved in this regard”.

Iain Walker has worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for the past 6 years, spending four of those years as Director of the Board.

As a law graduate from the University of Dundee, his experience is wide-ranging, including a consulting role for PwC, a two year stint in the UK Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit as a policy lead in transformational government and a four year role at EY (formerly Ernst & Young – one of the ‘Big Four’ accounting firms).
