President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assured the people of Ghana that his Sanitation Agenda will not be a “nine day wonder” adding that he and his government have developed a comprehensive programme to arrest the sanitation situation in the country.

According to him, his initiative is thus a fresh start that will make everyday a Sanitation day in the country.
As part of efforts to lead by example, the President has directed that a Sanitation Marshal and a Deputy Marshal be appointed by every government agency and department including the seat of government to oversee compliance of the laws regarding Sanitation in their respective offices.
The newly launched National Sanitation Campaign will focus on three thematic areas that will seek to change the attitudes of Ghanaians.
The three areas are; Stop Open Urination, Stop Open Defecation and Stop Littering.
The Minister for Water Resources and Sanitation, Joseph Kofi Adda in his speech identified major logistical challenges his ministry is facing such as lack of lands for processing of waste and lack of adequate equipment to deal with waste that is generated by the populists.
To these concerns, the President assured that three new sites have been identified to help deal with the concerns over lack of land.
The President also pledged that his government will make provision for all other logistical challenges that the Ministry is dealing with.
